Embarrassment meter

Heads I win. Tails we sue.

Trump had the Justice Department sue Alaska on October 22 to stop it from certifying its Senate race if Democrat Mary Peltola beat Republican Sen. Dan Sullivan. The next day he told reporters, "Well, I'm one that said, 'Do it.'" Republicans argued a second candidate named Daniel J. Sullivan was a plant to confuse voters; state courts let him stay on the ballot.

Blocked by a judge. For now. On November 1, federal Judge Sharon Gleason dismissed the case as "infeasible." The Justice Department is expected to appeal.

Runners-up

  • A $1 million reward for voter fraud tips, posted October 26.
  • A lawsuit over a $500 million stake that firms tied to a UAE royal bought in the Trump family's crypto company.
